it will work and run but the (stock tbi?) will be very resrictive on the stroker motor. if you had a mpi with a TB setup . it would work alot better. If you want to go the easy way just put a carb on it but if you have the time and money get a MPI or TPI inj. setup and you will see a bigger performace gain.
I have an 88 formula with a T5 and 3.08 gears.
I built myself a 350. I used 9:1 compression pistons, A comp cam with 218 / 224 duration at .050 I'm using a 79 4 bolt block. I have the TBI still intact. I used an Edelbrock TBI performer intake with a TBI spacer for increased throttle response. I have the 3" Edelbrock header and y pipe for the car which bolted up with no modification. I have a 3" Flowmaster cat back. I used a Edelbrock water pump. The only problem I had was getting a flywheel the same size for the olderstyle bolt pattern of the two piece seal motors. With an Automatic it would be simple. I bought a chip and slightly bigger fuel injectors for the increase in motor size and requirement. It just didn't perform right. I hooked it up to a smog tester and was running way too rich. (7:1 instead of 14.7 : 1) So I put the original fuel injectors and chip back in. I'm still running rich but it's a safe 14.5 : 1. I have enough fuel all the was through my rpm range. The cam is made to make power to 5650 rpm because I wanted to keep the 3.08 for it's great gas mileage. (1500 rpm @ 60 mph) I am making around 300 hp and 375 lbs of torque. I run on 87 with no knock or ping.
It runs great. The only thing I wish I did was get a cam one step up and make it a 383. I can't see any problems as long as the oxygen sensor is changed as required, (Every 20 k miles) The TBI sensors measure the air going in, and because it's injecting constantly it should be ok.
Let me know if it works out? All my friends are amazed at my takeoff despite the 3.08 gears. I can be idling down the street in first, hit the gas and turn the wheels and do donuts followed by fishtales till I gain grip like in the movie Smokey and the Bandit, as one friend put it.

THe T-5 is doing great. When the axle starts hopping cause it's trying to grip, I let go of the gas so I don't snap anything. When I drag race it's rare I spin. I hit the gas and let go of the clutch at the same time. It doesn't spin that way. Then I hit the clutch and shift quickly without letting go of the gas. It only chirps the tires. With a Powertraxx locker and 3.08's it doesn't spin much unless I rev the engine and pop the clutch.
