DOH!!! another newbie error, help please.....

in the midst of my 305 to 350 swap, while i am casually moving lose wires to paint my empty engine compartment and dreaming of hondas soon to be in my rearview , i wonder, where did all these wires come from? then i realize, I DONT HAVE A CLUE WHERE ALL MY SENSORS ARE!!!!!!
stupid mistake, should have labeled those before i pulled my engine. now i cant even find the basics.

wheres the oil pressure sending unit? on my block? on my heads?
how does the computer know when to fire the injectors?, i dont see a crank position sensor?
what is that little **** thing with the hole in it bolted on to my pass. side head??? is that my oil press???
wheres my knock sensor???? i know its different on 305vs350 but i have 305 heads on my 350, does that make it the same???
im running an 85 TPI if that helps....
where does all of this go???
HELP IM A STUPID NEWBIE LOSING SLEEP!!!!!!!

Oh my...

Well, the knock sensor is in the same place on both, bottom of the block on the passenger side. IMO it doesnt make a damn bit of difference which you use (seeing as how I have tried it and it worked fine), but the sensor is supposed to be related to the block itself, something about bore size, resonance, etc. I guess that leaves 334's, 383's, and 400's out to dry.

The injectors are run off the distributor reference pulse.

**** with a hole? No idea. 85's didnt come with a dual cooling fan setup, so it shouldnt be one of those unless someone swapped it in. Can you be more specific where on the head its located?

The oil sensor, there are 2. Both are on the block, right next to the intake manifold, under the distributor. Theres a funky looking distribution block they attach to. One has one wire (gauge) and the other is a 2 wire (fuel pump redundant switch).

Most plugs are shaped so they can only plug into one receiver. So for the most part you can get things back together. After that it should become apparent where the rest of the wires hook up by the lay of the wiring harness. Basically, just put together the stuff that is obvious. The rest will fall in place by proximaty to where the harness sits.

Is it between a couple of spark plugs holes? If so, sounds like a broken radiator fan switch. Single electric fans only used a temp switch, no control from the computer involved.

ok injector problem is solved. knock sensor......where is it again? i pulled what i THOUGHT was the temp sensor out of my old engine yesterday. i took it out of the pass. side block, right above my oil pan. when i pulled it, all my coolant from the block spilled out, thats why i thought it was the temp sensor. its like a bolt that screws into the block and has a terminal on the end for 1 wire to plug up to. there is no opening or anything on the end that screws into the block, its just like a regular bolt on that end. is that my knock sensor? if so, then where is my temp sensor???

oil press sensor.....still dont know where that is. i looked by the distributor on both engines, i didnt even see a hole where it would go. where exactally is it again???

and that thing on my pass side head, still dont know what that is. its like a brass bolt with a hole/adapter/nipple of some sort on the end without the threads. it doesnt look like its electrical, almost like you would stick a vaccum line or rubber hose on the end of it. ill try to get a pic. its between spark plug holes for #6, and 8. what is it????

thanks for the help guys, i may sleep at night now.......

Bottom of the block, thats the knock sensor.

The temp sensor is on the driver side head, between the #1 and #3 plugs. Just a thought, did you get the driver and passenger side heads mixed around? They are the same, unassembled.

The oil pressure sensor, I'll see if I can find a pic but I dont think I have one. Help anyone?

5-7, about that single cooling fan... the ones I have had the pleasure of owning did not have a switch controlling the fan. Its run by the computer, off the CTS reading. It switches a relay and turns the fan on.

The oil pressure sender is probably bell-shaped like this one, or it could be straight and located above your oil filter.
