OK, so this is what I want to do.

I want to get a new cam. If I am going to get a new cam, I want to get new 1.6rr's. If I am going to do that I want new heads, I am getting new heads I want to get......and so on and so on. If I do all of it will cost way more than I can come up with at one time. I dont want to save up all the money cause if money is there it can be spent.
SO, I am thinking about getting a block and then slowly adding cam, heads, pistons, and everything else. This way I dont have to come up with all the cash at once and I can still drive my car while getting the other engine ready.
And now the question.
Should I try to find a TPI block? Or are all 350 blocks the same? The engine that will go in will have to be street legal in CA so I am gonna stay with the TPI setup(or super ram). So I want a block that I can have all of the goodies that i would put onto my engine right now.
Any help would be appreciated.

Brian

A 350 is a 350. Yours is roller and one piece rear main seal, so maybe you want to stick with an 87 or newer block, but thats about it. If you change the cam, heads, pistons, etc. no point in even looking for a L98 unless you get it reasonably priced.

Cool. When I go out looking for used blocks, is there something that I should look for? What would be too much to pay for a block that I would pick up at a pick-a-part type place?
Thanks
