LT-1 Swapped now have Starting Problems
Hello Everyone,
I have installed a '95 LT-1 in a '89 RS camaro. All the mechanical parts have been easy.
I am having a little trouble getting it to run. I have the proper fuel pressure. I am pretty sure I spark but not so sure the injectors are working.
I was able to get the engine to start but it would shut down ~3 sec. I have bypassed the VATS system with a Painless wiring VATS bypass module $52.
One of the problems is that the problem is not consistent. After I installed the VATS module the engine makes a series of pops like the injectors or plugs are firing irradically.
I need a some help diagnosing whether the engine is getting spark and if the injectors are working. Also that this is happening at the same time.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

What is the security light doing ????
Have you check for incorrect firing order ???
Check Oil pressure switch (located on top of oil filter), could be deffective and cutting power feed to fuel pump.
Check ground on your Vats bypass module. verify is wiring between ecm and bypass module( connector 229) is less then 5 ohms.
Possible deffective ECM.
Possible bad ground on wiring harness.

Thanks for the Quick replies
I have installed an aftermarket inline fuel pump hooked up directly to the ignition. I am measuring 40psi at the fuel rail.
The security system seems to be fine. I have the bypass module installed and am reading between 2.5 to 3 volts to the fuel enable signal.
I am thinking the problem is along the lines of the tranny Park Nuetral switch... I will try that tonight.
Anything else that may stop the injectors from firing? Also will check my grounds tonight. Any good ways to easily test the ECM for malfunction?
Thanks Again,
Gus

It's Alive
I got the thing started last night. I did a serious of checks on the injectors, the ignition.... whola it started up.
Something I just had to keep at. I have been working all week to get it started. However, this motor has not run since '96.
Thanks for the advice!

Problem not definate
There are a couple of possible issues that could have been given me the failure mode. I have not tried to repeat the problem so far.
Seems most of the problem was it just hasn't run in a long time.
I did have issues with the IAC sensor. I broke the 5V ref signal when installing the motor. I tried to get around this by unplugging a vacuum line...
Another possible is a time delay from powering the computer in start mode to jumping the starter... Right now the motor is setup as a lab test really. I did not want to run anything hard wired until I knew I could get it running.
I just hope it was less luck than it seems to be.
