WELL I JUST GOT A NEW ENGINE BUILT AND AM IN NEED OF SOME ANSWERS. MY 85 CAMARO CURRENTLY HAS THE JUNK 2.8 TBI/AUTOMATIC COMBO. WILL MY TRANNY BOLT UP TO THE NEW MOTOR? WHAT KIND OF PROBLEMS AM I GOING TO HAVE ? I AM GOING TO RUN A 750 DEMON CARB AND WOULD LIKE TO UTILIZE THE FACTORY Y AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY AND ROUTING. IVE ONLY DONE ONE OTHER SWAP AND ITS BEEN A MORE THAN FEW YEARS.I SHOULD HAVE SOME PICS SOON IF I COULD JUST FIGURE OUT THE *&$@ CAMERA

 

even if it could bolt up, i doubt it will hold....what power numbers are you honestly looking at.

it's costing me a fortune to match my trans with the engine to not break it.

 

IT HAS 11 1/2 TO 1 COMP . 305 HEADS AND 202 VALVES WITH 500 LIFT 290 DURATION THAT IS WHAT IVE BEEN TOLD. ITS THE FIRST ENGINE IVE BOUGHT:lala:

what type of power output are you expecting...doesn't sound much more than a moderately built 700-r4 could handle.

what trans even comes with the 2.8? can't imagine it holding up to well either way though.

 

I havent got the thing dynoed yet but im thinkin about 350 to 375. as for tranny people have told me the bolt pattern is different on the v6. they also say save the tailshaft so the speedo will still read correct. do you know if this is true.thanks for the info and sorry for the caps i just got online a week ago and all of this is very new to a 1 finger typin 31 year old

i honestly couldn't tell you the specs of the transmissions. post in the transmission forum to get a quicker response!

i can tell you though with experience that my stock 700-r4 for my L98 would not hold up to that amount of power without a serious investment so i doubt one with a v6 would.

sorry i can't be any real help, that's quite alot of power out of a 305. sounds nice.

 

if its an automatic....it will NOT bolt up to the SBC engine
if its a manual, it can be made to work, but will only last a day with power like that
