I can get a 327 and transmition... LOOK
My dad said he could get a
327 with a 3 speed auto transmition
for $1200CAD.
Thats $800usd
But he can probally work the guy down to $1000CAD thats
$650usd.
The engine and tranny is good.
It's currently in a One-ton truck
My dad used to have the truck.
The engine and transmition are from a
1966 Corvette
He said it has 202 heads and headers etc.
I looked up on the net and 66 Corvettes;
the Base 327 had 300HP
the high-output 327 had 350hp.
IT runs good.
Think I should go for it?
If its the base model engine (dunno it has 202 heads) was 300hp/360torque.
Should I go for it?
How fast would my car be in the quarter-mile?
I'm guessing 13's?

First---Check the numbers on the engine. Make SURE it came from a mid-sixties Corvette. That's all that matters is the numbers.
Second---If it DID come from a Corvette, buy it.
Third---Sell it to someone that wants one to have a numbers matching Corvette and has lots of money.
Fourth---Take the money and build something better for your car.
Notes---If I remember correctly, the only factory automatic available with the 327 was a 2-speed Powerglide. This may have changed in 1968 and 1969. Not totally sure on this. Hard to remember that far back.
Play your cards right and you could make enough to build a really nice engine for your car. Of course it really depends on the numbers on the engine in question. A 350-horse version will bring way more than a 300-horse.

That motor won't install in your car, at least no unless you're willing to do without minor creature comforts like...... an alternator.
jms's plan isn't a bad idea. People with a 66 Vette will pay alot more for a 66 Vette motor than you'll have to pay for a much better one for your car.

It sure as heck worked in mine!!!
I think you will be missing acc. holes in the heads...you can work around it but it is a pain in the fan belt!
You can build a 500hp 327...but for the same money you can build a 550 hp 350......about the only thing original in my 327 is the block and the crank.....Save yourself ALOT of hassle and build a 350...performance parts are easier to find, and then you dont have to listen to these guys say.."No replacement for displacment"...in that case, why arent all you guys building 427 sbc's?? Or at least 406's That one has always baffled me

Ps you wont see 13's until you do some modding like intake, cam, and those yukky old heads.... and a very high stall to get the motor in the power band....and alot of traction mods.........and u-joints..
