breathing new life into wimpy car
ok soo heres the deal i recently purchased my brothers 85 camaro v-6 five speed and well the engine in it is completly screwed i figure once a coneting rod goes throught the side of the cylinder that the engine is scrap soo ive been looking to replace that engine ( of course) well after going to the local discount auto and being told the 2.8 v6 for the car is $1,200 ive been looking to breath v-8 life into the over grown paper weight but there are some t hings i need to figure out
btw im going to be going with a v-8 carburated engine, and there wont be any of those anyoing emesion control device either.. thank *** for florida and the fact they no longer check emisions
1, the v-8 i have access to i have no idea if its a chevy and if its a 305/350, is there some kind of number on the block that can tell me wat it is
2, id like to know if the transmision bell houseing on the camaro will take the 305/350
3 will i have to modify te motor mounts or fuel pump or what

1. yeah... there should be a casting number near the oil filter location.
2. nope
the bellhousing's are different... i'd say get a th350 for it... their cheap as hell
3. yeah... you're going to have to get v8 mounts and some stiffer front springs from a v8 car
make sure the block is in good shape before you get it (look for tell tale signs water in oil, core shift blah blah..)
so where in fl are you?
