L69 head question...

Hey guys..

What motors came with the same heads as an '83-85(?) 305 HO motor? I've heard that other motors had the same heads as the L69, but i dont know which ones.

BTW, what is the casting number i should be looking for? I want to get some heads that are original to an HO motor.

All of them. (Well, the V8s, anyway)

The LG4, LU5 "Croassfire", and the L69; and LB9 TPI 305 up until 86. They came in lots of other cars, too; Caprice, Monte Carlo etc.

The casting # is 416. Easy to find them.

I've got a pair of '86 416's sitting in my garage. Anybody can have them as long as it doesn't cost me anything in the end.

So any 416 casting heads will be "correct" for an '83 HO motor?

Also, wasn't '86 the first year for the new blocks? Will my intake and accesories bolt up to heads from the new style block?

shouldn't have a problem, but why may I ask aren't you using the roller block?

I don't want to use a roller block because i just want to rebuild the original HO motor. And even if i would use a roller block, there are never any 3rdgens wrecked around here for some reason... not the roller block V8 cars anyway
