350 or 383
I'm going to be putting a new engine in my car and was wondering is there any advantage a 383 has over a 350. I want to get about 300HP and 300-350 ft/lb torque. The car would be driven on the street with the occasional visit to the strip. And about how much would this run me?
Also how much can a 700R4 handle? Like torque?

a stock 700r4 i have heard can hold about 300 hp.
i think a mild modded 350 can give you 300hp easy.
stock l98's engine have like around 345 torque and the 700r4 handles that real well..
an engine like that would cost like around 2,500 bucks.
depending on what kinda fuel setup, carb would be the cheapest for most applications.

I am building a 383 for my s-10 drag car and a 350 for my 91 rs. The 383 is goin to be about 1500 dollars more to build than a 350 mainly because of machine work and different other little things that have to be able to be cleared like the rods dont hit a cam lobe or something.
A 383 is gonna have a good bit more toque because of the longer bore stroke. If your on a budget do a 350 because it is easy to get 300 horses out of a 350...and doesnt cost as much to build
