Removing L-98, Help!!!
Removing L-98, Help!!!
I'm pulling the L-98 from my '87 350 iroc, i've got everything disconnected and labeled, motor mount bolts have been removed, i just need to undo the tranny, and thats where I need some pointers, as this is my first attempt at a engine swap.
How can I access the torque converter bolts at the flywheel? I know that I have to turn the crank by hand to get at the bolts, but what is a good way to do that?
any help is appreciated very much, Thanks!!!

i always unbolt the trans and get the TC boltsafter the engine is out. if you want to unbolt the TC first you can spin the engine with a fly wheel turner tool or spin the engine with a socket on the crank, works better if you pull the plugs first.

I would take the tranny out with the motor, i was skiddish about doing this on my first engine swap, but trust me its worth it, and while you have the tranny out, you can clean it up and paint it. The motor comes out much easier with the tranny believe it or not. Good luck
when i pulled the l98 out of my iroc i took off the shield and just turned it over and unbolted it. we had to jar it around a bit to get the tranny to break away from the engine and it was tough to line back up but when you do line it up bolt the trans on first then the motor mounts. thats what i did and its alot easier than the other way.
