gauges don't work after swap????

I did the swap to a carbed motor and now my gauges don't work? There plugged in, they act like there going to work but nothing. I am more worried about my MPH gauge not working, any ideas?

gauge

I dont know if youve checked the fuse or not but there is a fuse that controles your gauges. You also might wana check you conections too. If that aint it let me know ill look into it

Checked the fuses, and the conections, NOTHING! I am looking into it for now, but now my car will not turn over???

I got the car running for a day, she ran great. Now, I went to start it yesterday morning and nothing?? She acts like she wants to turn over but will not go all the way? We replaced the plugs, the dist and cap/coil. I get a lot of back fire with flames from the carb when it starts to get gas on turn over. Checked the compression on the block, that is fine. It's getting fuel, it's getting spark, but still will not turn over. Any thoughts? Is the computer telling it not to turn over? What should I check for?

Thanks

So is the problem that it won't turn over (starter doesn't work), or is it that it turns over but won't start (starter works but engine doesn't run)?

Sounds like the latter... in which case, check to make sure the dist hold-down bolt is tight and the timing is where you think you left it.

I have adjusted the timing over and over again. Replaced the dist and did it again. The thing is that the car ran fine, then the next morning I went out and she would not crank over. She starts to turn over and nothing, it will not fire up. The timing is good, the srapk is fine and the thing is getting fuel.

Yes, the starter is working fine, batt is fine, everything I can think of is working. Could it be the computer not letting it fire over? I am now very confused...

Backfire throu the carb usually meann 2 things , 1- your 180 out or your way off in timing . Take the #1 plug out and put your thumb over it, have someone "bump" it till you feal the pressure push out then check you rotar.. if it facin the firewall then you 180 out pull the distibuter and reset it where the rotar is facing #1 cly. I had the same prob with my 89 rs its a pain but thats what it sounds like.....good luck
