thinking about swapping in a big block

i am a few thousand away from being able to buy a bad *** carbedb 540 big block engine. i own a 87 IROC Z with 350 TPI. what would need to be changed? a list would be helpful as i would like an i dea of how much i will be spending on just changing things in the car. if anyone has ever swapped in a big block, it would be great if you could make a list of the things that needed to be changed in order to have a big block engine.
thanks a lot

You'll have $15K to $20K in parts into the car by the time you're done. Are you sure a 3rd gen is worth it?

Qwktrip- I have a few questions for you and anyone else who knows about this. I am going to guess the price you listed includes the price of the big block and isnt much different from what putting any higher powered small block in would cost. My main question is why does everyone go carb with a big block? Wasn't the 454SS fuel injected along with a slew of other chevy trucks? There is also an aftermarket management system but are the stock chevy ones just not worth using? I also wondered if there was a major difference between the 454-502 and the new 496 they use now?
