305 to a 350/ what trany ???
I'm thinking about swapping out my L69 305 for a 350. I'll put the L69 on a stand in the corner, along with all the smog BS (no emissions where I live
). I'd like to put a wramed over 350 back in with NO emissions at all, just a plain old engine.
What trany can I put in there that's reasonably priced, and will hold up to the 350 ? Will the current Borg Warner hold up ? I want to keep it looking as stock as possible from any angle but under the hood.
It's a WS-6 car, so it has the DB rearend. Will this hold up to a 350 ?
The flywheel is completely different on my `85 H.O. 305 compaired to a standard `87 305. Can anyone tell me why ?
Thanks,
Chris

i have a 75 style 350 engine (jasper rebuild) and the flywheel off my 89 305(spd) wouldnt fit on there, becuase the style on the end of the crank is different, you might be able to find an older flywheel and make it work.
I would assume you are talking about a 5spd tranny, I heard they are only good for up to 300 horse, I would probably try to find an old 4 spd, and use, or the T-56 is strong enough.

Everyone talks about the T-5's not holding up
I had my '84 Z with a T-5 and a 406 with 456 ft. pounds of torque and 383 horse and the T-5 held up for me for 6,000 miles and the guy I sold it to drove it for another 10,000 and was still good until he swapped it for a T-56.
T-5's will handle hp and torque if you know how to drive them!
The flywheel won't work because the flywheel for a 400 is different form a 305/350 flywheel (Only becasue of balance issues).
