L98 350 Replacement Tips???

Hey all,

My IROC Came from the factory with an L98, and at some point the previous owner dropped in what I think (and feel) is a well built 305 with some good power and decent life left to it.

At some point I'd like to build up a L98 350 to put back in the car. I know I'll need bigger injectors, and maybe a new fuel pump, as well as a custom prom as I'd like to add a 125-150HP nitrous boost.

What would I be looking at for an L98 block, forged pistons, rods, crank, and computer friendly cam?

I've been told everthing else will work just fine with the L98 (Intake, Heads, Headers, exhaust, etc...) I do want to switch to roller lifters however.

It was suggested even that I can have my 305 heads ported and polished and they will work perfectly fine with an L98.

Suggestions, tips? Advice?

I don't want to spend 8-10K on the motor, and I don't think I'd need to,
but I need some money leftover to have the transmission reworked to handle the extra power.

Thanks in advance.

check the casting, you might have an L98..

If not I believe it only takes a change of injectors to switch over.. not my specialty though.. but definitely check the casting..

J's T/A,

How/Where do I check for that Information?

I'd love nothing more than to find out the "305" was actually a mis-identified 350.

I'd still buy a new shortblock, etc... as I'd like to do the swap over a weekend, rather than not have the use of my Car while working on the new motor.

I am fairly new to block identification myself, but the casting number is on the rear top drivers side of the block.. should tell you what it is.. for instance the LT1 I am putting in right now says 5.7 in the numbers..

There may be other identifying factors but I am not sure about it, sorry.. others on the board can help for sure.. the history restoration section should help too..
