The Edelbrock Performer is supposed to be superior to the GMPP intake, but I am not sure if the EGR performer is better as well. Just beward that the edelbrock performer for vortec heads is quite tall, over an inch taller than a normal performer intake for standard heads. With a 3" air cleaner with a 2" drop base, performer for vortecs manifold and a performer 600 carb my wing nut scratches the top of my hood when i drive.

The GMPP vortec intake is the same as the Edelbrock RPM intake. I bought one for one of my cars and it came in a GM box with Edelbrock instructions and edelbrock intake stickers. The only thing about the GM one is you pay $50 more for the bowties and GM label cast into the intake. I bought mine when The GM one was the only one out and edelbrock were on national backorder (march,1999).

The EGR for Vortec heads isn't setup the way your factory intake is. They use a pipe coming off the exhaust manifolds to an adapter with an EGR port.
Another company that makes a Vortec intake can be found at www.enginekits.com
It's about $130.
