GM 350 HO engine for 88 camaro
GM 350 HO engine for 88 camaro
Hi everyone,
I am probably asking the same thing that is relatively common for this message board, but I am a liitle under time pressure and have to wake up in a few hours, so I hope you guys can help me out with this.
I am starting work on 88 camaro 2.8L MPFI. I was thinking of putting in a 350 HO deluxe crate motor from GM. It's a 350 ci rated at 330 hp w/ 650 cmf Holly carb, which is good enough for me because I want to make it a street car first. So far I've been reading, asking, and reading some more and it sounds like swapping V6 for a V8 is not very easy because a lot of components around the engine are not interchangable.
Now for my question: I just came across a $300 86 camaro w/ 305ci carb engine. It's been sitting for a while before they've decided to sell it. Body is rusted out and battery was dead when I got there, but we jump started the car and engine compartment seemed in decent shape. As a bonus it has almost new radiator and alternator. Would it be a good more for me to buy it for my swap?
So far I've been looking at newspaper ads and project cars like these go fast. This is the first one that I called tonight (too late to look at it) and it was still there. So yeah, I think there may be a little time pressure.
As a side question. How do people feel about 350 HO? Anyone use it?
Again, I would greatly appreciate any and all input/ feedback/comments.
Thank you,
Dennis
