383 ls1 upgrade

I currently own a stock 91 rs w/305 tbi. I was wanting to motify it heavily. This will be a very long term project. My plans right now are to put in a 383 ls1, swap at to a 6 speed and big mods on the suspention. Does anyone know of a shop (s) in the oh/pa/wv area that can help me. also, what all do i need to swap the engine/ drivetrain and build up the chassis ( i don't want to bend the body once i increase the torq) Thanks

Did you know that a LS1 is not 350 cubic inches, it is actually 346. The LS1 uses a different bore and different stroke than a regular 350. The journals are also a different size and the rods are different too. That's jsut some trivia for you. But, I think that there are companiesout there that make stroker kits for an LS1. Virtually no parts(if any) are interchangeable between an LS1 and a regular 350.

thanks

i am fully aware of thre ls1 being a 346 but i was refering to the stroked out ls1 that several companies such as lingenfelter are putting. If i'm going to up grade from a 91 old fashion v8 to a new high tech v8, i'm going all the way, and no, i don't plan on getting a blower, like my women, keep i like them all natural (that's another for another board)

Lunati makes stroker kits for LS1's. Infact they just came out with some new ones! 382 through 408 is availible.

ok... 2 things.

1. a typical stroked LS1 is 382 cubic inchs.

as far as building it, i believe it is only a larger stroke crankshaft, and you will also need new connecting rods, plus all the other crap to rebuild the engine.

2. for the love of all that is holy, use the F***ing search button in the upper right of the page.

there have been many many many topics on swapping a LS1 in a 3rd gen.

you can find engouh information to read for several hours.

so instead of asking questions that have been asked before, read what has already been written, there is a good chance that your question has been answered.
