400sbc swap questions
hey guys, just a coupla questions for anybody who's done the 400 swap:
will it bolt up to a 700r4?
what did you use for knock sensor/ESC?

a 700r4 should bolt up to it. i believe all chevy small blocks have the same bolt pattern(i'm pretty sure).

Yes the tranny bolts right up, make sure you use a flywheel made for a 400, they are different than a 350, so is the harmonic balancer. If you are planning on using TPI or TBI you will have to extensive mods to get to run well. TPI doesnt support the air flow that a 400 will want unless you go with a ported base, siamesed runners, bigger TB and some other stuff. TBI on the other hand I have no idea but I would guess you'd have to go with a bigger throttle body and injectors and custom prom. The knock sensor will go in the same place.

I will be going to the track in the next month or so. On my gtech competition pro is has run a 12.286 @ 115.95 for whatever that is worth.
