LT! Info

K guys im looking to do the lt1 swap. I was wondering if that engine is rated 275 at the wheels or crank. I was looking to try and get an lt1 with about 320 at the wheels. And maybe 15 miles to the gallon city driving if possible. Is this possible? also i currently have a 350 rs carbed. What else would i need besides the engine and trans(yes im getting the trans or if its possible can i stick with a 700r4) Do i need a diff. ignition system? Thanks guys

I thing the factory rates them at the crank. I use a .17 factor for driveline loss. The covette version was rated at 300. You should be able to achieve 18MPG with the LT1 setup. depending on your gears.

You will have to upgrade the fuel system to electric pump, etc. What year is your car? Was your car converted to carb? The ignition system usually is part of the packege when you buy it.

Yea car was converted to carb. It ahs aa 350 in it right now. I believe it still ahs the electric pump but im not sure. I was thinking of getting a 94-97 lt1 of ebay with preferrably less then 70k(1200-1600).lt4 hot cam kit(400).And soem light head work(500).If i get the complete engine what else do i need for the conversion. Also what u think that setup would get to the wheels hp? Also can i use a 700r4 trans or no? Thanks guys

If the cat was converted to carb then you have an advantage provided they did not butcher the fuel system. Check your engine for a mechanical fuel pump, or pressure regulator.

The LT1 setup will work with the 700R4 with PCM reprogramming. I would go for the whole packege and get the 4L60E so you can program shift points.

Cam, porting and polishing, and PCM tuning can get you in the 300 rwhp range easily.

Should should not need much after that. If you are planning on running A/C I would reccomend the corvette bracket setup. You may opt to get a wiring kit if you do not feel like doing the wiring yourself.

You can get 300rwhp on an LT1 with just bolt ons.. the hp numbers you want are quite attainable as is the gas mileage.. My swap managed 23mpg this weekend with a mix of city and highway..

Email me with any swap questions you might have. Still pretty fresh in my mind...
