engine swap..?
hello. this is going to be a long post about motors.
my dad has an 85 trans am without a motor. we have an extra 305 sitting waiting to be put in but, his job got in a 327 vette engine.. supposedly. we would definitely check the cat number to see what it really is before we do this. we are almost 100% sure this will bolt right up to the 700 r4 tranny but we would just like to confirm with you guys if it will. will it? so my dad wants around 300-350hp in his trans am. if this is a real 327 vette engine then it should have around that hp stock. if it isn't a vette engine what would be some mods to do to make it 300ish hp. pretty much the only thing he wants to do is a cam, headers, exhaust, intake and carb or fi whatever it is. maybe pistons... if you know a way to get 300 or so hp out of a 327 please help out. thanks alot.

back in the '60's, a 327 with mechanical fuel injection had about 260 hp from the factory. If you go with an EFI setup, you should be able to hit your mark. as long as the block is a smallblock chevy, it should bolt right up to a 700 R4 with no problems.
