T5 transmission with a LT1?

I just bought a 95 Trans Am LT1 to drop in my 84 Camaro. Presently, I have an automatic in the car but I am going to swap it out for a manual. Does anyone know if i can use a V8 World Class T5 transmission with the LT1? I'd really appreciate it if some of you could clear this up for me. Thanks

Bryan

I would think the T5 would work provided you get the parts from another f-body. Otherwise, a T56 would be a bette option if you have you heart set on a manual.

If you go T56 replace the shift forks and synchros while it's out. Here is a helpful link:

All you need is a 86-92 flywheel. Which, if you get a 2nd design T-5, is what it came with anyway.

athough a stock LT1 already puts out more power then the tranny is rated for...

a t56 would probly be a better (stronger) option if you can afford it.
