Most will tell you that you will grenade it very quickly, and I would tend to agree. I believe, don't quote me, they are good to 350ft lbs of torque. If you are building a 355 and not getting close to that, what's the point of a 355
I say save up the thousand quickly while your T5 still lives and than go bu a t56 and be a very happy camper

Mine held up for a pretty good while behind a not-so-mildly built 400. Of course, I also tore up about a dozen before I learned my lesson, namely how to keep it alive.
It's all in driver technique. The 2 things you MUST NOT DO are yerbasic clutch dumps, and speed-shifting; in a word, drag racing. Even a 305 will destroy a T-5 if the driver decides to do those things. I tore up about 4 of them with the OE 305, before the 400 ever went in.
After I bit the bullet and realized it just wasn't a 4-speed, and adjusted my driving technique accordingly, I haven't torn them up any more.
