Buliding a motor?

Okay i dont know yet weather to keep the 305 now and blow it up with the juice or just get a 350 and start buildin it to replace my motor now. Theres nothing wrong with my motor i have now besides the size. im just kinda sick and tired of pullin 16's at the track even with all the mods ive done. my best was a 16.003 with a 2.3 60'' this past saturday i pulled a 16.4 with a 2.4x 60''.

I just dont know if my car is runing out of steam up top or what. i was plannin on heads, cam, intake, and the juice but after being beaten by 2 ls1 cars i want more power.

i was thinking of gettin a 350block and have it machined (if i get a used block) then put a fordged rotating assyembly in there, top off with a good set of alumin heads, intake, probably a deamon carb, full MSD ingnition, OR after the heads im considering a supercharger like one of those 142 i think from holley and then a deamon carb.

but this would be like a good yr build since i dont have all the proper tools.

what do u guys think? ive also been readin i think it was Chevy HI-po. where they have that articale with some guy building up his first 350 motor. and ill also be gettin the motor blue printed and balenced, so that way it kinda help me take care of puttin the connectin rods together wit the pistons and crank.

More inches is always a good place to start. I'd leave the cam untill last though, in whatever you decide to build, so you can match it to what you will be running everywere else on the engine (heads, headers, etc etc)

Dang, I was running close to that setup but my current one puts me through the 1/4 mile at 15.21 @ 90 mph, 60' 2.19. Never went to the track with the old setup. The converter really helped the car out a lot getting out of the hole. Also breaths well enough till at least 5800 rpm. Stock heads w/ upgraded valve springs plus whats in the sig. When the engine was stock it ran out of breath around 3500 due to 4 flat lobes on the cam only drove it 5 miles after buying the car before pulling the engine.

Current project is building up a 355 nitrous motor 700-750 hp on the bottle. Start building that new engine while you keep driving the car. Then one weekend drop the new one in and shock your friends the next time they go for a ride hehe.

I have to agree with EVILCARTMAN. Without a doubt, build the new motor. If you want a supercharger, which I am planning on doing, even with the demon carb, go centifugal. the kit is somewhat hard to find, but you can use a stock hood and have a sleeper. With the design that i have seen for a carb and a centrifigal, the clam shell that mounts over the carb hides all of the blower whine. very sneaky!!!!

i dont want to go with a centrifagal charger, im guess im old skool or something and like and always have liked the look of a roots blower, even the little roots blowers and with those i can still keep it under my hood so theres no problem there.

i posted another topic a few days ago about a 383 short block im looking at, has all Great parts in it/comes with ,excupt the p[istons which have to high of compression (13to1), im goin to call them before i buy the motor and see if they can put ike 10 to 1 compression pistons in but who knows, im just doing alot of homework right now and saving at the same time.
