big block in our cars

Ok... my father and i keep arguing wether a big block will fit in my 88 trans am or not, he says yes, but with massive overhaul, ie, wheel wells, and taking out ac, and a bunch of other stuff...

i say cut out wheel wells, and just relocate ac, he says it has to go completely.

what you all think?

i'm not going to get a big block(maybe when i'm like... 29, lol)... but i'm just wondering.

will it work? just curious.

It will fit relatively easy with some modifications required. You can't cut out the wheel wells as there are a structural part of the car for the top of the strut.

Everything that has to be done is listed on my page at www.koolmeister.com

just looked at it, over read it..

good information, thanks. But i have a question, what about the steering colum? the headers didn't hit it?... looks to me like they would.. but ohwell.. glad that it didn't. And have you still not got an answer about the tall valve covers and the windshield wiper motor mount?

Very nice cars btw. :-).

But.. one more question, what about AC? did you have any room in there anywhere to fit the collection thing(i duno the name of it, lol).. the silver thing, where all the freon goes i mean. could you run lines to that somewhere else in the engine compartment? or was there no space at all... i looked at the pix, but couldn't tell.

The headers clear the steering column by ~1inch.
I found an aftermarket wiper motor that is a little smaller and looks like it will work with the tall valve covers, but have not installed it yet. If it works, I'll be sure to post about it.
I never tried to install the ac so I don't know if it'll fit or not.
