11 second FI
11 second FI
ok, here's the deal, I don't know much about Fuel injection Vs. carbs. I want to build a low 11 second car, that will still pass NY emmisions, I also want to keep TPI and fuel injection system, finally, I want to be able to switch to boost if need be. I plan to storke a 350 to a 383 for my setup.
I started looking for parts, and figured i would need about 550hp, but there are so many options, can some of you expeirienced guys help me out? thanks

You will have to go with a stealth ram or super ram setup. Because emissions are an issue you might be better off considering an LT1 or LS1 swap.
Otherwise, you can get an aftermarket computer that will support sequentail fuel injection.

You won't get that kind of power out of TPI, unless you use at least 200 HP of nitrous.
That's not to say it can't be done with FI in general, just not with TPI in particular.
Your local laws will govern what other FI systems you can put on your car. Strictly speaking the Stealth Ram is not emissions legal because it doesn't have EGR, but you may be able to slide it through local inspection if they don't give it a visual. Otherwise, the only smog-legal setups available to you are the SuperRam or a modidied LT1 intake.

Actually, I dont think that the modified LT1 would be legal. The egr passages have to be blocked off to fit the dist. I believe the super ram is about the only completely legal option.

if you run a 3-way cat designed for your car (engine size and GVW), it should be able to pass emissions just fine on a properly tuned FI car. EGR and AIR are jokes IMO, european cars have been running 3 way cats only on their cars and have been running clean for years w/o EGR or AIR.
