trans n motor swap

right now ive got a 88 firebird 2.8 5 speed and im throwin in a 305tpi but want to keep it a 5 speed can i just change the bell housing on my existing tranni and bolt it up to a 305?

Not really. The problem is the clutch. No one makes a 10.5" clutch with a 14spline input (that is the 6cyl input v8's use a 26 spline input). Mcleod made a clutch disc with the correct input but as far as i can tell they do not any longer (you might want to call them though). You can use the 11" setup from an astro but that would require finding a flywheel that will work (the flywheel off of an astro might work I am not sure). You could use the 10" disc from an IH scout. It is also possible to use the clutch setup from an s-10. Or you could do what I did and use the 9someting" disc from a 6cyl car in a 10.5" clutch. Don't ask me how it works just yet I still have a few things to do before I drive it (still on blocks). I can imagine that it will not work all that well though (i can smell clutch burning as we speak).

EDIT: the clutch from an s-10 that will work is the same thing as a 6cyl fbody clutch for some reason 4.3 s-10s with a stick got a 10 spline input.
