V6 to V8 new rear end?
I am swaping my 2.8L V6 for a V8. Do i need to change the drive shaft and rear differential. I have heard both answers so maybe someone who has done the swap could educate me..... thanks
No you don't "Have to", but your current differential is probably open so you would have a one wheel peeling monster on your hands.
The driveshaft will work fine. Your tranny bellhousing will be different so plan on a new tranny as well.

No you don't have to change your rear or your driveshaft. One of my Camaros used to be a 2.8 that I converted to a 305 TPI. I kept the original rear since it had 3.42:1 gears. It's a good match to the 700R4 auto tranny.

hey there, i'm working on the 2.8 to 350 swap also. I'm sure the 3.42's will work fine, until ya rip them apart. I know my car won't be used to all the extra power from the engine swap and it'll prolly be a matter of time before i end up tearing it all up, good thing i have a spare posi 3.42 rear-end if i need it.My 350 is in pieces since i'm still in soccer and have no time to work on it. U will need a new tranny though, i'm gonna use a th 350 for mine w/ a manual valve body. Other than that, i haven't had enough time to answer/ask any more questions. Hope this helps any.
