LT1 Gen 2

Hi, I'm thinking of swapping in a 395hp LT1 it comes with alloy heads, water pump, drive plate, new LT4 injection, harmonic balancer, distributor. Would I have to modify the transmission at all? And would I need anything else besides what the motor comes with? Is the swap easy to do? Thanks for the help.

Depends on how hard you run it. That power will probably twist your trans to pieces.

You probably will need to upgrade your fuel pump. Make sure the engine comes with the PCM. You may have issues with the mechanical speedometer also.

The trans is good till about 400hp...so its close to the edge HP wise. Plus it really depends on the condition of the trans itself. If its worn out...or has alot of miles....I would replace or rebuild it. Putting the engine itself in is easy....its the wiring that can be tricky. But if you take your time and are mechanically inclined....its not too bad. You will have to find an adaptor for your tranny. Im sure painless wiring makes a harness/adapter to make the LT1 co-incide with the 700R4. Good luck.....

you will need to rebuild it eventually.. my 4l60e that came with the LT1 just bit the dust... broke a gear.. and I have just bolt-ons..

made room for the six speed though...
