Couple 350 Q's
Ok, I'm planning on swapping the FI from my 86 305 to a 350 from a 78 Camaro. i heard these motors are dogs so I was just wondering a few things.
1. What Kinda cam should I use to give me pretty good power and decent drivability.
2. Will the 2 bolt mains be sufficient enough for a motor throwing out about 350-400 hp?
3. Do I have to worry about Knock Sensors, and if so, what are they and how do they work.
4. and final, the heads are rebuilt 190 cc heads, this all the guy told me, and I was wondering if I should sell them or just use them. (they're like new).
The motor passed inspection earlier this week and is on a stand in my garage. I'm shooting for NA low 13's/high 12's, any suggestions on these topics or what mods to use would be appreciated greatly.
Thanx
Dan

Crane CompuCams work very nice. Others say Comp makes nice computer-compatible stuff. You need to keep it compatible with the rest of the "package", though, or upgrade the package (runners, converter, etc.).
2-bolt mains will be fine.
The knock sensor screws into the block coolant drain hole that has been on every SBC since the 1955 model year. No problem whatsoever. Well, you might want to get one tuned to the 350 engine, but that's still no problem.
Get the casting number off of the heads, or if aftermarket, exactly what they are. Without that, no other testimonial is of much value.
Converter, gears, and traction are the keys to good ETs.
