'84 L69 block swap to a 350 L69, is it possible?

ok. here's the rundown. i dont know if this has been tried before or not. basically i have an 84 TA w/ an L69. that means a 305 HO with the dual snorkel air intake.

i was wondering if i could just swap everything from the L69 to a bigger block, lets say a 350, 355, or even a 383.

dont worry about the stuff off the 305 being too small of displacement or ****ty, i want to replace basically the whole engine.

but i want to keep what makes an L69 an L69.

you know all the HO stuff. especiallly the dual snorkel intake.

all help is appreciated. all critizism will fall on deaf ears unless its useful. thanks to all.

Chevrolet used to offer an HO350 kit that did exactly that. Although Chevrolet discontinued the kit, it may still be available at places like SDPC and gmpartsdirect.com.

Yes. No problem.

Just build the 350 in such a way as to not exceed the limits of the L69 stuff. Mostly, that means keep the cam and CR reasonable; intake duration below about 220°, and compression below about 9.5:1.

Avoid using any of the real stupid cams and heads; no 929 or 151 cam, and no 882 or 993 or 624 heads for instance; and if you re-use the 305 heads, put 1.94" intake valves in them and port them, and use pistons with a small dish (around -12cc total).

Thats basically what I did... took all the L69 parts and dropped them onto a 350. Works great... very torquey
