v6 to ls1 swap
i got a few questions about this.
would it be any different from a v8 sbc to a ls1 swap since your ditching everything anyways? has anybody done this? it seems smart since ill get cheap insurance...

I do not think there would be much difference. Like you said all of it has to come out anyway.
In the short run you may even be at an advantage because the v6 front springs will not pitch up as much as the v8 ones. This will allow you to delay changing the front springs for a while.
Good luck.

yeah, this sounds like what im gonna do now. just gotta find a decent condition v6 5spd without a working motor for like 500 bucks or sumtin. gonna do a full restoration.
I wouldn't get too hung up on the car's transmission type, you'll have to cut the floorpan to fit the shifter either way. Sure, it's more of a cut on an auto-trans car, but you'll end up with a hole exactly the right size.
I used a hole saw to cut the master cyl hole in the firewall when I did my T56 swap, took less than 5min including deburring the sheetmetal and painting it with POR-15.

yeah i didnt even think of that. might help me find one easier. thanks.
i think i might go crazy with this and put the evo 2 kit on it.
being able to put 12.5 wide tires and having a fiberglass body would really help the ls1 out.
