would this engine http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...27&prmenbr=361 pass california smog with a flowmaster exhaust?

Technically? No. In reality? Maybe. I guess it all depends on if the heads have a port for EGR or not. My understanding was Vortec heads dont have the heat riser port, and that will present a problem if anyone decides to check the EGR, or if your NOx is high.

This question comes up from time to time. About a year ago, I opined that the first person to legitimately get that engine through (not just "around") California emissions would be a hero to legends.

I bought this crate motor a couple years ago.
It passes smog in CA, with the Crane Compucam 2030 or 2031 (depending on whether it's ordered with tbi or tpi)
