Bottom Line $ on eng swap

I had a 85' IROC 305 TPI and I loved the sound of the motor in that car.
I have a 84' Sport Coupe 2.8 V6
How much $ would it cost to have a 305 TPI put in my car? (I live in Phx, AZ)

Then engine itself should be cheap since guys often dump them for 350s. Without any details your biggest expense will be uprgading stuff to make the 305 work. I would WAG it around 700-1000 labor.

I've been through the swap you want to do, and honestly it's not worth it unless your Sport Coupe is spotless. If it's showing it's age then you are better off selling it and buying a 305 car.

forget the 305 and just go 350. you'll like it a lot better. plus i think the 305 isnt worth the time or money when you can pick up a 350 for a few bucks more.

your best bet, would be to get a donor car, because you are gonna need a lot other then the engine. a 350 would be nicer

the swap isnt really that hard, everything will pretty much just "bolt in". i would think labor should be no more then a grand.

good luck with it

My car is in really good condition. I've been doing alot of mods\upgrades to it.
I think I'll take the advice and go 350. I remember my IROC got really good gas mileage (I drive 34 ml to wk & back).
