Fuel Pump Swap.....Quick Question...

Ok, well, my question is, I'm changing out my differential soon, and I figure, since I'm at it, I might as well swap out the fuel pump. I have a '90 Firebird 3.1 mpfi. I'm also planning on swapping in a 350 TPI Crate from sdpc. And I want all the pressure that thing needs, w/o going back up to swap the damn pump out. Now, would my 3.1 go hay-wire w/ a V8 pump in there? I'd figure my stock regulator would still keep it at what my v6 needs, and it shouldn't be a problem.

Also, what is the best pump to get that would flow what the "Future" engine would need, and would last the longest and is most reliable? Any sites? I hear Walbro is pretty good, but you guys tell ME what would be the best bet.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Well, I can't positively answer your first question, although I would assume if the fuel regulator is working you will be fine.

For your second question check out this website:
http://www.racetronix.com/product/RX..._Pump_Kit.html

This is the pump kit almost everyone uses for LT1 swaps and should be more than adequate for a SB crate engine.

Would I need that whole kit? All my wiring, etc. is fine to the pump. I'm talking about just upgrading the pump itself, not the relays, etc. etc. (unless you need new stuff for the new pump)

No, you don't need the whole kit--I believe you can just order the pump from summit for about $125.00, if you go to www.summitracing.com and type in this part # GRN-GM722-2 it will give you the details.

Ok, thanks for your help. Now, can anyone give a more positive answer on the V6 part of it? I would assume it would work fine as well, but I just want to make sure.

Thanks again.
