Who has done the LT1 swap?

Alright guys, I am going do my LT1 swap soon and I need to know all details I am going need to know in order to make it work. I found a LT1 engine with no transmission and no belt driven accessories for $650. I think its a great price, but I don't know. I am expecting a price of $250 extra for every belt driven accessory to be added again. So, can any of you guys tell me what I'm going to need, how much it cost you and what problems came up that were unexpected. I am hoping to use the transmission that I already have because the one for it is another $450 beyond that price. So I am told I'll need a separate lockup computer since I'm using the older transmission.

Also what kind of parts may eventually need to be replaced due to the extra power. The current transmission has only had synthetic oil in it ever since it was bought, also the rear-end has only had synthetic also. I am told that the rear-end may need to be replaced but you guys tell me.

How much did the total swap cost, I am not making and changes to the engine like cam swaps so I only need to know how much you guys spent on just the swap alone.

Thanks in advance,

Shane

This is an engine swap forum question. Moving there, although there are stickies there that address the issues.

Does The LT1 you are looking at have the wiring and ECM?
What year is it? If it is an early LT1 then the ECM will have the TCC lock up for the 700R trany
As far as the trany goes you can buy a lock up kit for $80 from Bowtie overdrives that will take care of your TCC lock up.
I have a corvette so mabey I have a bit of a diferent perspective but I used a corvette assy bracket and was able to reuse my P/S pump and bought a new A/C compresor off e-bay for $150 and used the F-body alt that came with my motor.

It only makes a diference if the motor has the ECM. 97 is an ODBII ECM and is a bit diferent of a situation in terms of tuning and I believe it also reqires a rear (3rd) O2 sensor.

no the motor does not come eith the ECM or PCM, what ever the difference is i dont care. I know you can buy aftgermarket ECMs and thats what i'm gonna have todo. How much are they, what will they cost and stuff like this.

hnere is their chart of the motors with the tranny and ecm and every belt driven accessory. Are these good deal or what?

the thing with the k at the end is milage. ran and drove means that when they got the engine they drove it in and it ran, then they pulled the engine out.

i'm thinking about the 97 with the automatic, it has everything i need and a reasonalbly low mileage, what do you guys think.
