LT1 Swap Idea...
Currently, I have a puny 2.8 V6 with a 5 speed in right now... My idea for pulling the engine and all that is Disconnect the wiring harness from the computer in passenger side, pull it through the kickpanel and out the fender so it is now just hanging out there, disconnect all the stuff NOT on the engine and leave it all in the engine, take out Radiator, and Engine and tranny together... Does that work, the wiring that is? Also With wiring in the LT1, isnt the computer under hood? If so would i have to deal with wiring too much if i get a motor with the computer and all the wiring plugged into the engine already? And where to mount the computer. Do i have to get special Conversion motor mounts or just the LT1? And with the tranny do I have to cut the hole in the floor like 2 inches back, and what to use?
Sorry thats a ton of questions, but I wanna be sure I know what I am doing, Thanks!

The LT1 will drop rite in you can just use you existing motor mounts and the trany will bolt rite up as well. The problems you are going to have is TC lockup on your trany and wiring.
If you get a 92/93 LT1 then it will have the TC lock up capability and you will be fine. If you get an LT1 with the harness and ECM then you can get it reworked for a four wire hook up by Jims performance for around $200. Your assys will not bolt up to the LT1 so you will either have to run the F-body LT1 bracket and use F-body LT1 assys on the passangers side (The A/C compresor may hit your frame but if you dont need A/C then you can run a A/C delete pully) or use the corvette LT1 assy bracket and mount your assys on the drivers side and re-plum the P/S and A/C lines (That is what I did)
This is not an easy conversion and You need to olan very well or it get very expensive. I rewired an LT1 harness myself to work with my existing harness and mounted the ECM inside the car with no problems.
Going from a V6 you may have to upgrade your front springs.

You can pull the wires as you described if you have a good wiring diagram (IE helms man.) and know what you are disconecting and mark all of the wires before cutting them.
Whaen I did my swap that is waht I did I wanted to keep as many of the stock fuses as possible so I removed my motor and ECM harness from my crossfire motor and wired the new harness into the car. It was a PIA but now all of my wiring apears stock and goes through the firewall in the same way as before the swap. I had to cut the gromet to fit the new ECM plugs trough but if you mount the ECM on the outside of the car you wont have that problem. I wish I had known about this site before my swap it would have saved me a lot of time and effort. I soldered and heat-shrank all my wires then coated them with scotch-coat.
