'84 camaro 305 to 350 swap/ need advice

I have an 84 Z28 with the 305 5.o L H.O. engine, the 8th digit in the vin # is G. I am planning on swpping the 305 with the 350. What I would like to know is what I will have to change in order to successfully swap these engines? Also I would like to know if anyone thinks that there would be any parts from the 305 HO worth swaping to the 350? Thanks.

Depends upon the vintage of the 350 mostly. If you get a 350 that is from '85-earlier, it will bolt in place of the 305. You can retain all of the L69 parts - intake, exhaust, carb, dist, all accessories, etc.

The only possible issue is if the 350 is old enough to have the dipstick on the driver's side, you'll have problems getting it past the exhaust manifold. If you install headers during this swap, that problem will go away, too.

Be careful about the heads & cam in the 350, though. There are 350's out there that make less power than your 305.

I plan on buying just the block and caps and just rebuild from there. Also what do u think about the 400, do u think it would be a good choice to go with? I've heard that there have been problems with the it cracking because of some faulty in the block. I'm not sure how true it is or if it can be fixed, but if I could I would rather put a 400 in then a 350.
