LT1 Intake on a 406 SBC!!!

check this out. i can get a GOOD 406 sbc rotating assembly for 900 bucks then get an lt1 intake machined to fit on a small block for 400 bucks. with some new heads and a cam this should be one hell of a power monster to drop into my 1991 z. any comments, questions, or ideas here? think this is a good idea?

I know there is someone on this board with a LT1 intaked 406, I can't remember who it is. From what limited knowledge I have of EFI the opinons on the LT1 intake swap are kind split. For the most part I think people like it. Obivously if you do this you will have to have a custom PROM burned. LT1 intakes will support upwards 500+ hp so I can't forsee it choking airflow like a TPI setup would, and is a hell alot cheaper than a S/R, mini ram setup.
Good luck

Im in the process of doing a 408+cubes with twin turbos and Im either gona do a Lt1 or HSR.

I had a LT1 i converted an dpit on a 358 but ended up getting rid of everything befor I used it..

The only thing I dont like about the LT1 is the remote T stat.

true true but how hard is it to actually drop one in because of the remote t stat?

Not hard at all... If I didnt have my LS1 or and actual LT1 I would go with an LT1 intake, L98 Aluminum heads with some work or some nice aftermarket alluminum heads and a cam... Your talking about a significant street car now making very nice power... Asuming your engine is already a TPI your not gonna have much trouble at all. The remote thermostat is just a housing to hold your t stat thats not on the intake because there isnt one on the actual LT1 intake, but you can mount the remote T stat anywhere in the engine compartment you want. Most people dont likei t for looks, but I dont think its that bad, and you can mount it wherever you want.
