Need axels

I took out my stock rear end gears, and replaced them with posi gears from a 97 TA/ everything fits fine, but my axels use to be 26-spine, and this new one is 28 spline, so i went ahead and got myself some 28 spline axels, and they are fine, BUT... they are too long... so that means my breaks on the back wont work :P.. so any ideas on exactly what axels i need? Any part #'s or what not..

i know i need 28 spline, but i need them the length of the 83 camaro factory ones.. ;/

thanks.:lala:

what did you get the 28 spline axles out of.... You can get some out of a 90-92 f body, they will work.

28 spline axles started in 89 or 90 I believe in thirdgens. Your 83 axle housing is not as wide as a fourthgen, so if you ordered 97 axles because you have 97 gears then that is why they are too long. Try ordering axles for a 92 housing. They should be 28 spline, but since it's still a thirdgen year they should be the correct length.
