LT1 swap parts questions

Ok I have a 91 305 TBI RS. I have a friend thats gonna give me a good deal on an LT1 and Im thinking about putting it in in the spring. I've looked over other LT1 posts and Im trying to get a tab on all the parts Id need so I could order them earlier and get good deals. I see so far that Id need the computer and complete wiring harness. Would maybe one from a newer caprice or camaro work if I got it from a junkyard and put a custom chip in?*since the engine will probably have at least a different cam* Also I think I need a fuel pump. What else? Will my current cooling system work or do I need all new radiator, water pump etc? Different motor mounts I believe, I thought I saw a post that there was a kit for this. So I have Computer:wiring harness, fuel pump, mounts, *cooling?*, can anyone add anything else I want ever little part I will need. Also, has anyone had any experince with having a shop do the work, what would it/did it run you for a swap like this? Any idea? I doubt I'll be able to do the work myself. Thanks in advance.

lt1 parts

you're probably going to want to get a new radiator, however someone posted a way you can use your stock thirdgen radiator.. ill check out which post it was on.. but you also definately need a different waterpump. Your throttle linkage if you have the TPI , you can use...

You'll need the computer and harness like you said, I actually took one from a 96 camaro that was equiped with an LT1, and it will work fine. Of course its all in perfect condition .. But you will need to bypass the VATS system on the ecu. There are some places you can send it to that will do it for you. Otherwise you're looking at the painless product that does so.. not sure if it requires their harness too though.

since the fuel pumps from the newer camaros i believe are in the tank, you can get a inline fuel pump like i did.. as for the motor mounts, you can use the ones you have on there now.. i suggest replacing them for new ones though for YOUR year if they are the originals.
Definately going to need the lt1 intake/fuelrail injectors etc..
Don't swap your flywheel, get a new one made for the LT1. You're going to use an electric fan so get one of those emm...
power steering pump , all the pulleys.. the bracket that holds these accessories.. (not sure if your friend is giving you all this stuff too, if so cool ) harmonic balancer for lt1 --

don't forget the distributor - prolly optispark , and be sure to get the correct one, there are posts on this forum on how to determine which one you need.

just be sure to get parts specified for the LT1 , also some parts
are different for the different years of the motor.

As for sensors ... i noticed theres a bunch of em ;p -- the o2 sensors and the knock sensor in specific. Take a look at other peoples posts about the Lt1 swaps to cover everything, but im giving you a list of what i think you'll need, im doing the swap, im about 90% done from getting it running, then with all the really expensive stuff ... Wish you luck, its fun!!! :hail:

You can use a PCM from a Caprice/Impala. I'm using one from a '95 9C1 and it did run the car. You will need it reprogrammed as there are going to be many codes thrown. Ion at www.madz28.com can do programming from you.
You can use an in-line pump if you choose or you can get one for an Lt1 f-body and place it in the tank where it belongs. This involves dropping the tank though which seems to scare a lot of people. It's not very difficult as long as you have an extra pair of hands.
