Stock rods *might* hold up if they're R&R'd w/ ARP bolts, but personally I wouldn't trust them. For about as much as working the stock rods you can get a set of 5140 forged rods (CAT $150 or Scat/Eagle $200) and those are ready to go with ARP bolts in them. They're good up to 500hp.
If they're one thing I've learned, don't cheap out on a motor. If you do it will be more exspensive in the long run when you have to replace whatever broke and everything it took along with it.

There are a few "good" stock rods out there. I just sold a set of GM "x" rods that were forged. They have a X in the bottom. Otherwise spend the money wisely.

A friend of mine with a 383 in an s10 is running stock 5.7" rods out of a 350, runs 117 mph in the 1/4 shifting at well over 7000 rpm. Some people are lucky, some arent.

If you use gm x rods or the new gm powdered metal rods, with good rod bolts they should hold for that much. Make sure the rods have been properly inspected for cracks and such. Also, as said before, new aftermarket rods, ie. scat, eagle, will be a good investment. If you are going to scrimp and save on a motor, please don't do it on the bottom end. Do it up top where it is easier to get to and repair. Just my 2 cents.
