Cheap-a$$ LT1 swap continued

Working on the VSS. I replaced the stock VSS with the speedo drive gears, I had to drill a shallow hole in the output shaft for the speedo gear clip, had to use a dremel drill with a carbide bit. I bored out the reluctor and put it up where the governer gear used to be. Now I have to either make the stock sensor work somehow or buy the 4x4 sensor for $75. $75 is still better than paying $300 for a tailshfit kit.

I used a buick roadmanster LT1, any ideas on the AC hoses?

Thanks

Hoses are going to have to be custom.

Where is the a/c compressor for the roadmaster at? I haven't seen the acc. setup on those.

I believe it is at or near the same location as on the F-body LT1s. I remember seeing somewhere that the same issues concerning the A/C compressor existed but of course now that I try to find it I can't.

well thats what I was wondering. If its in the same location, the a/c lines would be the same as the LT1 setup. In that case, I'm still in search of the part number for the compressor fitting I've got. All I know is its a CarQuest part that bolts to the back of the compressor with two 90* tubes coming that are able to swivel 360* to allow you to turn them any direction you need. I've got that with a rubber hoses connecting to the evaporator and a steel braided line connecting to the condensor.

The carquest website isn't much help. I also noticed it seems the fittings on the R-12 based systems seem to have a different thread pitch than the fittings on the R-134a system. They look like they'll cooperate with a little lube and some big wrenches.

Yes, the compressor is down where you have to notch the frame.

How about a picture of the fitting TexasLT1?

I trimmed the stock VSS sender down so it fits inside the back of the trans, I have to figure out a way to wire it and mount it now. I may just buy the $75 sender if I can't think of a reliable solution.

Yeah the CarQuest website is absolutely useless. Your best bet is to go to one of the parts stores and look through the catalog.

Unfortunately I do not have a photo of it anywhere. In my infinite wisdom I didn't take any useful photos when we did the swap.

As far as the different thread pitch, it wont matter. The fitting comes with a bolt, but you can put in any one that will fit. I've got a standard bolt in there, I believe its 5/8, but thats going from memory from 2 years ago.

I've got a '96 9C1 LT1 that I'll be putting Roadmonster accessories on. I'll prob be following your swap pretty closely.
