LT1 heads????
Hey guys i was woundering would there be a problem with puttin LT1 heads on my 305, they have 1.94 int and 1.50 ext valves, there ported, 3/8 studs, 5/16 guid plates and have been machined for double valve springs, there cast iron heads by the way. What do u guys think??? i just want the heads
heres whats in my friends ad "2 steel LT1 heads, ported, machined to fit dual valve springs + port matched intake manifold machined to accept 58 mm throttle body. 1.94 intake valves and 1.50 exhaust valves, 3/8 rocker studs, 5/16 guide plates, springs, locks, retainers included. Heads and intake have about 2000 miles on them since ported. Intake is green ceramic painted. Flow numbers included below: Barometer: 29" Temperature: 88 degrees Lift Intake Exhaust .100" 53.94 50.46 .200" 111.20 102.70 .300" 160.70 145.24 .400" 200.20 174.79 .500" 225.65 190.71 .550" 233.57 195.42 .600" 241.23 200.02 .650" 241.23 200.02 .700" 241.23 200.02 Price includes ground shipping in continental US. Reason for sale: Ran out of money to complete this project. ***Note, I do not know spring pressure... I forget what I used. ***Price mildly negotiable"

Yes there is a problem, it can't be done. The reverse cooled LT1 heads cannot be used on a traditional SBC due to the different coolant passages. On the LT1 the heads are cooled first whereas on a traditional SBC the block is cooled first. Also, I'm not sure but I think the valves might be too big for a 305 because of the smaller bore.

well, without modifacation it cant be done, look up TPI_ROC, hes welded chunks of aluminum in the passages...very nicely done..
and 194 150 will be fine in a 305 head...people have done 202 150 on 305's,...just takes a little more chamber work

Ok, I knew it was close on the valves. Thats awesome someone was able to modify them. Thanks for the correction f-crazy.
*Edit* Wow, thats incredible. I just went through and read the post. Awesome work by TPI_ROC, definitely should open up some avenues for other people.
