Tell me if this sounds stupid...
Tell me if this sounds stupid...
I have been planning on a 4th gen dash swap come spring break when I can take the car off the road.
What I'm wanting to do is knock out several brids with one stone.
1. I want the dash wiring to be as painless as possible.
2. I want better fuel economy.
3. I want to be able to tune my car easier (read: flash chip, not burn)
My idea is to get the complete underdash harness to use with the dash, a complete engine harness and try to convert my TPI MAF based batch fire system into a MAF based SFI set-up. This way, I won't have any issues getting gauges to work and I can get rid of that rats nest of a wiring harness under my dash (I think I found 3, that's right, 3 alarm boxes under the dash
)
It this even possible? The only thing I see giving me problems is the whole optispark vs. my current CC dizzy set-up.
Can you put optispark on a standard SBC? Is there a better alternative to Optispark? Did my dealer sell me some bad crack? who knows.....
Ok, any critisms are welcome along with helpful advice.
What other obstacles do you see coming my way?
BTW, I currently have a SBC w/ a HSR setup and a 700R4 which will hopefully make way for a T56 sometime this summer.
