ok - ready to order headers

hey guys, im ready to order headers for my LT1, I want ones that can give me the best performance, but the tick is that it's for an LT1 with D ports, but in an 83 camaro, i think i've asked this before, but I didn't get any specific header recommendations.. and i still havent ordered yet because some just dont sound right

some have said to get any 3rd gen headers and the O will cover the D port.. i just dont like the way that sounds...

Others say get 4th gen headers, i like that... but which ones will fit with no clearance problems... and what do i get, shorties or long tubes? I dont even know the performance difference, can anyone help me out ? Any one got links to some that will work? or some info or part #'s? Thanks a ton!

You may want to measure the D-port size and see what it comes out to at its widest spot. If it is larger than 1 5/8" but smaller than 1 3/4" than that is your answer.
