Stage One begins
Finally started 'pulling' the 350 from my Firebird to go into my 1972 Nova. Stopped milling around and actually did something useful - started labeling and disconnecting the wiring harness. Got pretty far in the hour I spent out there....maybe it won't take as long as I thought.
I'll be doing the easy stuff first while I'm cleaning out my garage, where I'll do the harder, more involved things.
The overall plan right now is to just get the Nova running, then worry about other cosmetic or trivial items. I don't have a large budget so I'll probably just get headers/exhaust, and leave the engine stock. Won't be running A/C, and I'm debating on power steering. Will not be running EGR or AIR. Anyone know where to get an idler pulley to replace the AIR pump?
The Nova needs a lot of work, but it's mostly little things, like seats, or a steering wheel.
I'll keep everyone updated on how she's progressing. For the next week or two I'm mainly going to be cleaning out our garage. Anyone with a truck that would like to help haul stuff off to the dump??
I'm excited to see how much the Nova will weigh when all is said and done. Right now she weighs less that 1500lbs. That should bring her close to 2400lbs finished weight, which is a thousand pounds less than the Firebird. And if 100lbs = .1 et in the quarter, then with headers and free mods I *should* be in the upper 12's.

Here she is! Just got it out this afternoon....still need to get the torque converter/flywheel off, and get suitable bolts to mount the engine to my stand.
