What can I do to get a 383 to push 500hp? Im on a buget, and I want to do a budget build up...Probably no more than 10.5:1 compression....Just ask if you have other questions...

you`ll need to make like 1.4 or something close to achieve that 500 horse number, I wouldn`t concern yourself on total horsepower, those number are always peak and aren`t useable on the street anways...build your motor to make peak torque at a normal rpm level that you`ll see in everyday driving. Build your engine to make torque...the horse will follow! I`m doing a 383 now we are hoping to pull 475 ft lbs of torque on pump....were useing 11.1`s 6.100 long rods, solid street roller and afr`s 195 heads, should come close to 500 ponies too.....lotsa $$$ will get you to your goal every time
