What Engine?

Hi huys, i have a 92 RS with an LO3 in it. Im looking to swap it out with a 350. This may be a stupid question but would it be possible to swap a "gm universal 350" for 1971-1985 applications into my 1992? Thank you for any help?advise you could give me.

Yes, you can.

A couple of "issues" you'll have to deal with are a different bolt pattern on the intake manifold (the bolt holes in the intake manifold can be elongated to make it work), and difference in flex plates (you've got a one-piece rear main seal, the Goodwrench has 2-piece - you'll need a 153-tooth, 12-3/4" flexplate for 2-piece).

You'd have to use an '86-earlier carb intake manifold and a TBI adapter, or modify your current manifold so the center two bolts on each side fit.

For the record, that engine isn't exactly a "performance" engine. It has low compression (lower than your 305), a really lame cam, poor flowing heads. And, it will probably drive tuning changes that you'd be best to check out over on the TBI forum. Unless you're considering it because your 305 is toast, you probably aren't going to see performance gains by installing it. Perhaps a little more torque, but no more power.
