Someone I work with has a 1979 Buick Something LTD with a V8 and it has "alot of power". It was recently in a wreck and they don't have the cash to fix the body so I can get it for cost of title transfer. I was wondering if the buick engines are any good from this year I am going to go look at the car tomorrow. And I am going to find out what engine it is exaclty. I have all of the Vin Letters for all of the Buicks for that year, what letter decifers what engine it has. I don;t have much cash myself but I am trying my damnedest to get this car fixed now I am done with the V6 and want a V8 and I don't have the money to go to a j/y and buy everything seperatly. And there are no 3rd gens for sale around me. I want to find out if this is any good because it comes with everything I need.

It could be a 301, 305, 350 or 403. It's the 8th digit I believe. Y, W (301), H (305) R, X (350) or K (403).

Since you said LTD, I think you might be talking about a Century Limited, so it would be the 301, 305 or 350.

Cause I sure hope they don't mean a Ford LTD lol.

Its either a Electra, Regal, LeSabre, or a Sentry. My Parents had a ford ltd in the early 90's it was a Piece of garbage

if its stock its a smog hog. i wouldnt touch it. maybe if you plan on rebuilding it, if its a chevy 350 then it might be worth it. but otherwise it wouldnt be worth the trouble IMO.

he may have said it felt powerful, but then again, some people think stock hondas are powerful.

patience is a virtue. save your cash till you can afford the engine and stuff you want.

Easy for you to say. The Camaro is the only car I have and its broke down pushed off of the end of the driveway. I need it to run.. I can't figure out whats wrong with it. No one really helped me out on the V6 boards.

Also remember That its not only broken its a V6. And like I said I don't have much money. And the V6 is knocking so I don't want to bother with it anymore

The Grand Swammy say, "I see frustration, disappointment, and much expense in your future."

But hey, it's your car, your time, and your money.

Ehh.. if its a 350 buick.. it really isnt worth much..
Its the lightest 350 made.. but besides that.. it has small bores,
3,850" stroke I think..

anyhow, good luck with ur plans
