questions on swap
i just got a 89 formula and after tearing the heads off i found a whole the size of a softball in the piston chamber, so im gonna swap the engine for an older 350 with a carb. the engine that was in it was a 84-90 model 350 with a fuel injected carb, the previous owner told me that it wasnt the orginal engine and he didnt know what it was out of. my question is if i do away with the fuel injection is the computer needed for anything else or can i just take it out all together? also if i do this would i be neededing a wire harness for the older 350? thanks

you have to decide whether or not you want to use your stock distibutor, fuel pump, and trans if you have an auto.
also i think the speedo needs the computer to work.
with out the computer youd have to get a different distibutor, wire the fuel pump to a switch and relay with a regulator, and the 700r4 needs a vac operated lockup switch to function properly
getting a different wiring harness can help some but i did my own.
